Exploring Local Water Knowledge through the Ear of Futures
Foster an empathic platform for listening to water knowledge from vulnerable local communities in Kalibata Pulo in Jakarta and Şahintepe in Istanbul

Fostering Urban Resilience to Water Risks Through Participatory Methodology
Futures of Listening: Water Knowledge from Two Cities is supported by the British Academy’s ISPF ODA Challenge-Oriented Research Grant for 2024-25. Working closely with local communities in Jakarta and Istanbul, the project develops its methodology collaboratively, drawing on the interdisciplinary expertise of three research teams: the University of Aberdeen, Forum Lenteng, and Urban.Koop. By engaging with local residents, experts, stakeholders, researchers, and activists in water security and rights, the project seeks to strengthen capacities for climate action. It aims to amplify the voices and empower the most marginalised communities, often excluded from current government water and climate policy discussions.
